First Visit

Your initial appointment usually will consist of an examination and review of your treatment options. Oftentimes, treatment can be done or started the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day. During this comprehensive initial visit, your dentist will also evaluate your gum and periodontal health to determine what type of cleaning to schedule you for. For more information regarding periodontal conditions and treatment, please see our Dental Health category.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Any x-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable.
  • A list of medications or supplements you are presently taking.
  • If you have dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves, joint replacement, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.). Please inform our staff prior to your appointment if you have been advised to pre-medicate with an antibiotic, or discontinue medication, for dental appointments.

X-Rays

If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. Oftentimes, previous x-rays can be utilized in developing diagnoses, but should additional x-rays be necessary, we would be happy to take them for you at our facility.

Our office uses Digital X-Ray technology, which uses up to 90% less radiation than traditional radiographs. Utilizing the latest software and hardware, we are able to enhance the images taken here to give the most exact diagnosis possible, and are able to see parts of the head/neck that were previously not viewable. We welcome any questions about x-rays during your appointment.
